Job Description

ITS Specialist (1-2 positions), Information Technology Services, Tennessee Tech University.

Job Purpose: The goal of this position is to work with the university assigned areas technology needs in compliance with procedures and policies set forth by Information Technology Services.

Essential Functions: Analyzing the technological needs of the faculty and staff, supervising hourly workers who provide the first line of defense, managing deployment of systems, analyzing current policies to determine adequacy, and programming server and workgroup policies. Provide Tier II support and work with vendors to resolve Tier III issues. They analyze user needs, write specifications for purchases, obtain quotes, manage technology projects and approve technology purchases. Other responsibilities include deploying new technology and performing system integration testing of hardware/software upgrades. Individuals demonstrate expertise in various custom or packaged hardware and software. They have superior analysis and diagnosis capabilities and outstanding customer service and support skills.
