Overview

TDS, a Fortune 1000 communications company, is seeking driven students for a unique and exciting business collaboration and support internship opportunity. This newly created intern team will help define and recommend changes to existing processes, systems, and applications across the TDS family of companies: U.S. Cellular, TDS Telecom, OneNeck IT Solutions, BendBroadband and Suttle Straus.

Duration and Work Schedule

This internship is in our Middleton, WI corporate office. Qualified individuals would be available part-time (appx 10-15 hrs/week) during the academic year and full-time (40 hrs/week) next summer. However, the exact start and end dates are flexible.

What opportunities does this internship offer?

As an Intern you will work with diverse enterprise teams, receive mentoring from subject matter experts while providing operational support of critical business objectives. Areas of focus may include but are not limited to; internal and external reporting activities; financial statements, modeling and analysis; general accounting, payroll and accounts payable; systems analysis and design; production support, testing and integration; and report generation.

You will learn more about finance and accounting processes. You will gain exposure to technical / reporting tools (i.e. Crystal Reports, Web Intelligence, Oracle databases, PowerBI, Excel, SharePoint and Team) and SAP. You will work with diverse project and support teams which will allow you to increase your business acumen, technical aptitude and more!

Responsibilities

What work will you perform?

* help develop and support business processes, systems and applications
* assist with formulating and defining systems scope and objectives
* participate in general accounting activities (i.e. reconciliations, month-end close, accounts payable and payroll processing)
* assist with dashboard development, data visualizations and requirements gathering
* prepare operations / business reports and SEC filings
* conduct modeling, forecasting analysis, historical reviews, and benchmarking
* enhance documentation and ensure system and data integrity
* assist with project management, implementation and planning; including unit, integration, regression, security, and user acceptance testing

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

* Currently pursuing Bachelor's or Associates degree in accounting, finance, business, information systems, computer science, engineering, networking or related major
* One or more semesters of accounting, finance, technology or relevant coursework

Preferred Qualifications

* Strong analytical problem-solving skills and critical thinking
* Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong verbal and written communication
* Solid work ethic and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
* Ability to plan and organize multiple tasks
* Ability to work both independently and on team assignments
* Initiative, creativity, and excellent customer service skills
