This hardware/software engineer will be a member of the software development team that develops embedded software to control existing and new oscilloscope designs. This hardware/software engineer will work under the guidance of a mentor to develop calibration procedures, algorithms and code for existing and new hardware designs. This engineer will participate in the sustaining activities of existing products and the development of new products for Tektronix oscilloscopes to ensure that these products meet manufacturing and product specifications.
Responsibilities will include:
Develop a working knowledge of current and future hardware product specifications and architectures. Development of algorithms and software to calibrate and optimize the hardware to meet published product specifications, including the development of software to test the design. This hardware/software development engineer will work closely with oscilloscope electrical engineers to review and make recommendations to circuit designs in order to assure the product can be calibrated to instrument specifications. Calibration software is developed using C/C and is an integral part of the oscilloscope software. This engineer also works with manufacturing test engineering to calibrate instruments efficiently, repeatable and traceable to the National Bureau of Standards (NBS).
Bachelors degree or in the process of obtaining a Bachelors degree in one of the following disciplines required: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering
Detailed knowledge of C , C and assembly language(s) required
Understanding of multithreading, memory management, object oriented programming, and real time operating system concepts required
Knowledge of programming for Linux or Windows run-time environments required
Preferred Skill Sets:
Understanding of precision electronics instruments, especially oscilloscopes
Understanding of various electronics accuracy specifications and how to make these measurements
The ability to read electronics schematics and understand basic analog circuits Good technical documentation skills
Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
Academic focus on technical topics regarding development of real-time, embedded control of hardware interfaces Academic focus on digital signal processing, including frequency domain related classes
Familiarity with Qt
Familiarity with Verilog or VHDL
Familiarity with MATLAB
