Be part of an exciting transformation team creating innovative local news content!

WXIA is looking for a multi-skilled journalist to join a team creating multi-platform content for community news. Working under a managing editor, this journalist would gather, create, and distribute engaging and compelling digital and social content.

Our ideal candidate can develop community contacts; work with a managing editor to identify relevant stories; shoot, write, and edit digital and social videos; and participate in Facebook groups, Nextdoor, and Reddit to engage with local communities.

In this role, you will:

* Create unique, authentic, engaging content
* Work individually and with a team to plan community coverage
* Analyze daily and actively use metrics to inform editorial and strategic decisions and create accountability for results
* Strategically post under deadline on social media including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and other emerging platforms
* Embrace WXIA's vision of excellence in journalism and innovation to uplift local news to empower a stronger community

Job Requirements

Here's what you need:

* Digital content experience, including an understanding of how various platforms work
* Writing skills to create accurate and engaging stories
* Photojournalism ability to shoot video and still images
* Video editing, including using text-on-video applications
* Experience with audience feedback tools like CrowdTangle, Chartbeat, Google Analytics, etc. a plus
* Passion and vision for emerging media
* Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and engage in building community contacts
