Job Description

This South West Dallas company is actively seeking to hire a Relay Applications Engineer for a direct hire position.

This position requires theoretical knowledge and experience in the design, operation, testing and maintenance of relay protection equipment as well as associated substation equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for company's products via the telephone, with personal visits, demonstrations, and hands-on training primarily for the relay protection products
  • Validate product specifications through application testing of hardware and software products and provide feedback for product enhancement/improvement
  • Contribute to product specifications, software, and application literature as well as product design & development
  • Participate in marketing and sales activities and industry technical meetings and conferences
  • Prepare white papers, application notes and technical articles to reinforce company as subject matter expert in relay protection
  • Should be able to present on different theoretical topics and case studies at conferences and technical meetings

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Master's degree a plus
  • 5 years' experience in relay field testing/commissioning
  • Familiarity with electromechanical, numerical and Microprocessor protection relays from various vendors
  • Knowledge of different relay protection principles and hands on experience in relay testing.
    • Have good working knowledge of the methods and procedures used in utility substation design, maintenance, protection and control
    • Experience in the installation, testing, and maintenance of protection and control systems, PLC systems and associated substation equipment
    • Knowledge of application of advanced standards such as IEC 61850
    • Knowledge of NERC standards as it relates to relay protection
    • Required travel (approximately 40-50%)
    • Position requires strong computer skills including knowledge of various Windows platforms, software installation, various PC I/O ports and Microsoft Office
    • Creative, driven and self-motivated individual with strong customer focus
    • Spanish language fluency a plus
    • Relocation assistance available for highly qualified out-of-town candidates.
