Job Title: Planning & Scheduling Manager


Location: Corby, Northamptonshire


Function: Supply Chain – Planning & Scheduling


Salary: £29,993 - £45,000 + Benefits

The supply chain function plays a pivotal role in the performance of Tata Steel in Europe. Across the Strip supply chains, the function controls planning and scheduling of over 11 million tons of steel over many routes with an average of seven production steps. Disciplines within the function include Sales and Operations Planning,  Planning and Scheduling, Logistics, Order Management and Supply Chain Excellence. We are recruiting for a Deployment Lead based within Planning & Scheduling at our site in Corby, Northamptonshire. Reporting to the Downstream Scheduling Manager, the purpose of the role if to manage all the planning / scheduling activities of all the Manufacturing Units of the Tubes business at the Corby site, in such a manner as to satisfy both customer and supply chain needs and to ensure the plans and actions optimise supply chain performance.


You will be responsible for managing a team that undertake mill planning, producing robust manufacturing programs, which support customer requirements in the most efficient and effective manner. You will manage the Corby Planning & Scheduling team deliver the Supply Chain objectives and ensure stocks are managed in line with the Flightpath and Working Capital targets. Interacting with all functions in the business, you will ensure synchronisation is maintained between inbound coil, the manufacturing mills and order load to deliver exceptional customer service. You will validate commercial forecasts and identify potential opportunities for exploitation based on existing forecasts and Manufacturing capability to ensure asset utilisation is maximised.


Ideally you will be educated to degree level or equivalent and/or have previous extensive logistical experience. You will have an understanding of Flow principles, lean manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques as well as detailed knowledge of production planning processes. Strong decision making, interpersonal, influencing and team working skills are essential, as is strong analytical capability and problem solving skills. You will also have a high level of IT literacy with experience of using Microsoft Office applications, SAP and Tandem.
