Job Title:                      Engineering Shop Team Member

Location:                      Corby, East Midlands

Salary:                          £26,178 + 15% Shift Allowance + Benefits

Tata Steel Tubes have one of the broadest ranges of welded tube from any steel manufacturer. Our expertise in the end applications enables us to provide tailored services to suit our customer’s needs, whether applying coatings, end preparation, customer-specific packaging,  bundling, JIT delivery, or bespoke dimensions, tolerances, and testing. At Corby we predominately supply the construction, conveyance and pressure, and more recently, lifting and excavation tube markets.

Customer First: The engineering shop provides services and support to all mills onsite, including re-profiled rolls, re-profiled roll stands, plant tooling, maintenance and repair work. In addition all test pieces are prepared for the QA department.

We are recruiting for a team member to join our Tooling Department, at our site in Corby, East Midlands. The job holder will principally work within the Engineering Shop reporting to the team leader.

To carry out this role successfully, you will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

  • To work in a safe manner as per local area and site Health & Safety procedures
  • To carry out the Quality Assurance procedures and documentation necessary to control and improve end product quality standards
  • To carry out machining work on a range of machines; CNC lathes/mills, roll stand lathes, manual centre lathes, milling machines, boring mills, planers, slotters etc
  • To provide apprentice training within the scope of the Team members specific core skills

Person Specification/Requirements

  • Should have served an apprenticeship as a centre lathe turner and milling machine with a number of years of experience
  • Good communication skills and the ability to function effectively within a team
  • Basic computer literacy and AutoCAD would be advantageous
  • Basic CNC programming (Fanuc, Philips, Heidenhain) would be advantageous
