Retail Promotions Manager about the Company 

The Tampa Bay Times, which is Florida’s largest daily newspaper, has been part of the Tampa Bay community for more than 130 years. The Role Considered one of the nation's remaining great newspapers, the Tampa Bay Times is searching for a leader to increase newspaper sales and revenue through the development and implementation of innovative partnerships and programs with other businesses. This position will establish strong internal and external relationships to effectively secure strategic buy-in and collaboration for new and on-going programs. The Retail Promotions Manager will join a team of colleagues who firmly believe in the journalistic mission exemplified in the pages of the Tampa Bay Times and will direct his/her passion to grow sales. The position will be located at our office in downtown St. Petersburg, FL. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

• Cultivates innovative approaches and ideas for development and implementation of sales programs through original thinking and creativity. Sales programs should include but not limited to cross-industry best practices for merchandising, product placement and product awareness. 

• Influences key decision makers both internal and external to gain support for ideas that achieve win-win outcomes for both the Times and its business partners. 

• Builds rapport throughout the organization and business community that establishes collaborative relationships to achieve position objectives. 

• Develops a network of professional contacts. Maintains a high profile, aggressive field presence, meeting and visiting with new and current retail and community partners. 

• Achieves sales goals and exemplary customer satisfaction. 

• Aligns work with newspaper and department goals to achieve profitable sales volumes. 

• Maintains awareness of population trends, competition, residential and business growth to effect sales achievements. 

• Develops an understanding of AAM regulations and ensures that all sales programs comply within guidelines. 

• Maintains a thorough knowledge of the Tampa Bay Times print edition and other platforms through daily readership. 

• Completes special projects as assigned. Education and/or Experience 

• Bachelor's degree is preferred or equivalent experience of two to five years in retail management, sales, marketing, advertising or audience development. 

• Knowledge in proven sales techniques, basic merchandising, presentation development using marketing and market research, and ability to close sales. 

• Must possess the following skill sets: excellent verbal and written communication skills, planning, organizational and sales presentation skills, overcoming objection and sales closing skills, public and employee relation skills, basic personal computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 

• Must be adaptable to change and have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. 

• Must possess the ability to problem solve and successfully negotiate contracts. 

• Must be an exceptionally motivated self-starter with excellent time management skills.
