Responsibilities

This opportunity is with Syneos Health Consulting, an industry-leading consulting firm specializing in the biopharmaceutical industry providing services across a comprehensive range of key Practice Areas including commercial strategy and planning, medical affairs, risk and program management and pricing and market access. You'll join a team with industry focus, depth of functional expertise, and strong scientific and market knowledge that is uniquely positioned to tackle highly complex business and market challenges to develop achievable strategies for our clients.More specifically:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage billing process on a daily basis, for both consulting professional fees and expense invoicing.
  • Able to manage multiple complex invoicing processes and systems, which includes foreign currency billing, volume discounts, and sales tax.
  • Provide support to collection process
  • Provide excellent service and support to the consulting teams in billing and collection efforts; specifically, ensure timely, accurate, and effective communication of issues affecting the consulting teams.
  • Work closely with project managers to ensure accurate client billing and project reconciliations
  • Complies with sales taxing and foreign taxing regulations related to client billings and maintains tracking schedules
  • Work with clients and project teams to ensure purchase orders are received in a timely basis
  • Apply daily cash receipts
  • Maintain month end reconciliations
  • Assist with audit requests
  • Maintain accurate files and copies of invoices sent, contracts, invoice approvals and purchase order received
  • Provide client statements upon requests
  • Perform ad hoc analysis
  • Weekly Reporting for to monitor Unbilled Work In Progress
  • Maintain billing schedules, including ability to read and translate contracts into a billing schedule
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned


Strategic Insight/Critical Thinking:
  • Notify project managers of missing PO information and ensure projects are funded in full by the client for fees and expenses
  • Escalate to Associate Manger of AR for PO issues; delayed billing requests; outstanding SOW issues to come up with plan for resolution
  • Add new reports or enhance current reports to satisfy changing information needs
  • Develop scalable business processes and reporting capabilities with the organization
  • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year end consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Provide Ad hoc reporting and analysis
  • Identify and document customer billing requirements.
  • Modify billing processes as necessary to ensure timely completion.
  • Improve billing processes and formatting to incorporate automation, standardization, and efficiencies.
  • Participate in periodic evaluation of internal controls.
  • Provide input into continuing modification of Accounting policies and procedures.
  • Identify ways to improve filing and record retention processes.
  • Establish written policies and procedures for the billing and collection processes.


Requirements

Along with demonstrated initiative, uncompromised integrity and a results-oriented mindset, the ideal candidate has:

Desired Skills and Experience:
  • High School diploma is required; college degree highly preferred
  • At least three years of billing & collections experience, preferably within professional services
  • Ability to articulate clearly and professionally with the consulting team
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Advanced Excel skills along with good Access and Word skills.
  • Experience with Great Plains, particularly the project accounting module is preferred
  • Good problem-solving skills, creative thinking, good team player, strong work ethic, positive attitude, and a customer focus are essential to success in this position.
