Overview

Our Managed Markets Communications agency seeks a seasoned leader with deep experience in the managed markets space to build on our strong marketplace position and foundation and accelerate growth. This position leads all agency operations and is responsible for overall meaningful growth of the Managed Markets Communications agency, a Syneos Health company. Syneos Health is the only fully-integrated biopharmaceutical solutions organization and is purpose-built to accelerate customer performance to address modern market realities.

This leader is expected to have extensive agency leadership experience and possess intimate, recent, and practical knowledge of the evolving managed markets/market access landscape. Must have deep experience with payers (commercial and government), specialty retail, retail, wholesalers, ACOs, integrated systems, and hospitals, along with experience in contracting and evolving value-based care, risk-sharing, and payment/reimbursement models.

She/he is chiefly responsible for growth and new business prospecting efforts, ensuring success through deep industry connections and long-standing relationship capital. She/he is also responsible for client growth and retention of accounts, achievement of client brand metrics, account profitability and cross-selling of Syneos Health Communications, Commercial, and Clinical Services.

Description of Duties

Key Job Responsibilities:
• Leads agency operations with a focus on new business, client development and growth, the work, and the people
• Supervises the functional heads of Account Services, Creative, MM Content Experts & Medical Strategy, Editorial, Operations, and New Business
• Directs, supports, develops, and mentors key reports
• Directly responsible and accountable for development and management of a P&L; includes forecasting, utilization metrics, staffing, and risks/opportunity assessment
• Manage staffing (working with department lead staff) to ensure staffing is balanced with both P&L and client business needs (current and future)
• Leads new business activities and pitches, including oversight of:
o Client organic growth plans (pursuing add-on business and organic growth of existing business)
o Prospecting
• Supports solid working relationships with clients across all marketing levels; is able to leverage these relationships to grow the business and help ensure resource allocation as needed to produce great work
• Facilitates communication internally and externally with appropriate levels and functional areas to ensure comprehensive knowledge base of all parties required to lead and manage brands
• Establishes industry-leading best practices and managed markets space knowledge for quality of work and client services, motivates team to achievement and celebrates successes through team and individual recognition and rewards
• Demonstrates a solid knowledge of Syneos Health solutions, resources, and processes to support cross selling and the development of comprehensive solutions to clients challenges
• Supports business line and corporate decisions regarding management issues/policies and clearly directs staff in a positive and team-focused manner
• Promotes continual learning and mentors personnel to ensure enhancement of knowledge base and insight
• Actively embraces, promotes, and educates team regarding corporate values and their role in helping achieve business objectives

Minimum Requirements

Job Qualifications:
• 15+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical marketing, advertising or other related - disciplines with a minimum of 10+ years of relevant managed markets experience at a client, in a marketing or sales function, or at a payer pharmaceutical or healthcare advertising experience. Experience as a recent formulary decision maker at a commercial payer is preferred
• Completed significant work as an SVP/EVP with daily operations of a company or business unit
• Must be able to travel up to 75% of the time
• Robust record of new business development success
• Extensive knowledge of payer space (commercial and government), specialty retail, retail, wholesalers, Integrated systems, disease state, category, product science, market and competition
• Successful track record of sales and brand stewardship
Key competencies for position:
• Managed markets expertise: Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of the managed markets and payer landscape across a broad range of therapeutic areas. Must have deep experience with payers (commercial and government), specialty retail, retail, wholesalers, integrated systems, and hospitals, along with experience in contracting and evolving value-based care, risk-sharing, and payment/reimbursement models
• Leadership skills: Leads by example. Acts with a high level of professionalism, integrity and unquestionable ethics at all times
• Teamwork: Understands the impact of one's actions on others, seeks to keep team informed and maximizes the power of working together
• Brand management: Has a solid approach to managing client brands from the agency's role in brand development, marketing implementation and life cycle management
• Client management: Develops solid working partnerships with a variety of clients while also fostering relationships between other team members and the client; is effective at leveraging a variety of roles to maximize partnering with the client
• Business management: Helps the cross-functional team understand business metrics, including estimating, utilization, management of workflow and quality to client satisfaction
• Communication: Communicates adeptly both internally and externally and is able to establish rapport with a variety of professional levels from all functional areas. Possess solid writing skills
• Sales and account development: Continually seeks ways to grow current base of business as well as bring in additional new business
• Strong presentation skills: Commands an audience through clear, direct and motivational presentation approaches
• Industry knowledge: Maintains solid command of pharmaceutical industry trends and direction as well as the latest marketing and communication techniques available to continually grow our business and offer the latest solutions
