Job Responsibilities

Work on ASIC bring up once the physical ASIC comes back from the fabrication unit.
Validate and characterize ASICs and debug issues and help take ASIC to mass production.
Design printed circuit board for ASIC validation purposes (create schematic design for circuit boards)
Develop optimized test procedures and test cases to validate ASIC design down to the block level as well as in the system level
Develop and implement complicated digital communication protocols (eg: i2c, spi, ETP and other custom gpio communication protocols) and synthesize design on FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Array) to enable communicating with ASIC and debug it
Automate validation and characterization test procedures by developing/coding scripts in Matlab, LabVIEW, Python, Perl
Work with lab instruments like oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, function generators, BERTscopes
Develop scripts to program such lab instruments and automate their functions
Integrate lab instrument automation scripts with ASIC test automation scripts
Work with test-firmware engineers to help come up with algorithms ideal for ASIC validation purposes; Execute test automated test scripts
Push ASIC to design limits by creating extreme test cases; Perform data analysis on acquired data and work with design engineers to debug ASIC
Run pre-silicon design simulations using Cadence Virtuoso with help from design engineers to help determine ASIC design limits and specifications
Come up with optimized test procedures and develop automation tools and debugging tools for immediate team members as well as other functional teams.

Required Qualifications

MSEE and six months intern or work experience in developing innovative techniques for testing and characterization of high speed display hub ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) controllers; bench validation and characterization of Touch-sensing ASICs (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) with internal components like ADCs (analog to digital converters) and DACs (digital to analog converters), high speed serial interfaces using communication interfaces like I2C and SPI protocols
Ability to implement protocols on bench FPGA hardware, ASIC datasheet development and creating characterization reports
Familiar with NI FPGA hardware and NI FPGA development module, designing PCB test hardware using OrCAD/DxDesigner tools, programming tools - Matlab, Python, Perl, C and LabVIEW for data processing and automation, AMS simulations using Cadence Virtuoso, Synopsys VCS, develop and modify bench firmware in C, data analysis tools including Datapower, and lab equipment such as Bertscopes, oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
