Diesel Mechanic levels are selected based upon the following:

1 M - Requires basic knowledge of vehicle systems and maintenance.

2 M - Two (2) years of heavy equipment/mechanic related experience.  

3 M - Three (3) years of heavy equipment/mechanic related experience. 

4 M - Five (5) years of heavy equipment/mechanic related experience.  

5 M - Seven (7) years of heavy equipment/mechanic related experience.  

Thoroughly inspect diesel related issues on company equipment, assist with truck (tractor) safety and general maintenance related repairs as directed by a Supervisor
  1. Assist with preventative maintenance inspections on tractor equipment in compliance with specified safety procedures and DOT regulations
  2. Complete basic, necessary tags and work orders
  3. Perform proper safety protocols and procedures including use of protective equipment, maintaining a safe work area, etc., in accordance with Swift safety policies.
  4. Recognize and report potential non-diesel specific related repair or maintenance items (trailer, tires, etc) of concern.
  5. Utilize various company software to maintain job and equipment tracking
  6. Move equipment on/off the Safety Lane and around the yard
  7. Provide superior customer service to company drivers
  8. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner which facilitates the success of business operations in order to meet company demands and expectations.
  9. Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership

Skills - Demonstrated/proven superior customer service skills; valid drivers license; ability to read and understand repair manuals, understanding and ability to complete/fill tags and repair orders; computer keyboarding.

Education - High School Diploma GED or graduation from trade/techinical school preferred. Additional technical school education may substitute for required experience. Drivers license required.

Job Type:  Full -Time Regular

Shift:  2:00 PM to 11:00 PM

Schedule:  Tuesday - Saturday
