Just 30 minutes northeast of Sacramento, the Sierra Foothills region is steeped in history, legend and romance. It is the heart of the 1849 California Gold Rush. It's also a place where nature and wholesome living attract many newcomers interested in a more relaxed lifestyle than those found in the bigger metropolitan areas.
