Job Description

The initial focus of the position will be to optimize outside processing operations to meet quantity, delivery and financial objectives and achieve strategic heavy duty growth objectives.

The overall goal of this position is to oversee the manufacturing schedule and manage the flow of materials to ensure the support of customer requirements and the accomplishment of financial inventory objectives.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Proactively monitoring and managing inventory with respect to past demand, forecasts, seasonality, and economic conditions

  • Identifying and coordinating the disposition of excess and obsolete inventory

  • Ensuring PO data integrity in support of the supplier scorecard

  • Developing and implementing an effective cycle count program

  • Monitoring key performance metrics and proactively resolving issues that could undermine achievement of key performance metrics

Success Factors/Goals:

1. Within 12 months gain an understanding of H-P's outside processing operations work with Supply Manager to evaluate existing supplier capabilities add or consolidate suppliers where necessary to improve performance and efficiency and achieve corporate and strategic objectives.

2. Coordinate with Sales and Operations to complete non-stock/stock review and reduce delivery lead time to an average of 3 days.

3. Meet current inventory metrics of XXX turns without sacrificing on-time delivery.

4. Conduct quarterly reviews of excess inventory and work with Materials team and Sales to reduce excess and obsolete inventory from current levels. Implement program to ensure compliance and develop performance metric for tracking.

5. Work with Planner/Buyers and Supply Managers to improve data integrity and implement accurate supplier scorecard.


  • 5-10 years proven experience as a Materials Manager.

  • Experience in shipping and receiving operations.

  • Familiarity with supply chain and inventory management systems.

  • Understanding of forecasting and budgeting.

  • Working knowledge of APICS/AS400 preferred.

  • Proficient in MS Office.


  • BS/BA in logistics or relevant field highly desired.
