Data Management Analyst , Wholesale Business Information Office (BIO) - Atlanta, GA-W443416

Description

SunTrust's Wholesale Business Information Office (BIO) is seeking a Data Management Analyst in Atlanta to join a team primarily focused on Corporate Investment Banking and Capital Markets data.

The successful candidate :

• Applies a comprehensive understanding of end-to-end data processes/flows and concepts to implement frameworks, processes, controls, models, and solutions to ensure data is effectively managed across the organization or within a specific business unit.
• Implements data stewardship and other relevant data accountability structures across business and technology organizations to ensure data is effectively managed.
• Drives organizational change as necessary to implement data frameworks, processes, controls, etc. across the organization or within a given business unit.
• Defines or supports others in the definition and on-going maintenance/management of data. Drives the identification and mitigation of data issues as necessary to support organization priorities.
• Identifies and champions the implementation of data process and practice improvements.
• Possesses in-depth knowledge of Data Management practice and other related data disciplines.
• Applies knowledge of best practices, derived from experience, to solve a range of complex data-related technical, operational, and business problems.
• Partners with Team Lead and plays a significant role in large complex projects or initiatives.
• May lead smaller projects with manageable risks and resource requirements.
• Develops and fosters relationships with business owners and stakeholders involved with Data Governance initiatives.
• Serves as a liaison between business and technical teammates.
• Works independently and receives minimal guidance.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Advanced knowledge of Data Governance principles and standards with experience in providing related guidance to business and technology teammates
• Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills; creative thinker, always looking for a "better way" to deliver value, not stopped or discouraged by adversity
• Understanding of basic Data Modeling concepts
• Proficient in creating SQL queries and applying various data manipulation techniques for data analysis
• Capable of performing mapping activates in support of data projects, capturing data flow and process to maintain data lineage
• Ability to identify potential data remediation options to resolve data integrity, quality, confidentially, availability, and consistency issues
• Independent, yet collaborative, respected by peers and others; decisive, assertive, with the ability to achieve results quickly
• Responsible and accountable - someone who takes ownership and initiative
• Passionate about working with data
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with matrix teams and influence outcomes

Preferred Requirements:

• Master's degree or MBA and 6 years of related experience
• Previous experience in the banking industry
• Corporate Investment Banking\Capital Markets Experience
• Expert MS Excel and/or TOAD skills for data analysis
• High level of proficiency with PowerPoint
