Description

Support the Finance Risk Director and HR Risk Director as part of the enterprise operational risk management strategy, as defined in the STI Enterprise Risk Policy. The HR Risk Manager will be responsible for developing, analyzing, coordinating, and implementing an effective operational risk mitigation strategy within the Human Resources function. Serves as the risk management expert providing leadership and meaningful input to ensure risk data is captured, risk mitigation strategies and controls are developed, and appropriate reporting mechanisms are implemented.

Specifically, the HR Risk Manager provides operational risk management support through the following primary activities:

• Manage operational risk and risk-related policies, as well as reviews and coordinates with business areas to develop function specific risk policies to ensure compliance with the Operational Risk Policy and Framework.
• Develop and manage Human Resource specific Risk Committee materials, including evaluation of program effectiveness, level and direction of key and emerging risks, and remediation status of previously identified risk and control issues.
• Monitor activities related to compliance with operational risk guidelines. This includes proactively identifying changes in personnel, products, processes, policies, operating systems, accounting practices, organizational changes, regulatory requirements and business environment which may impact controls across HR.
• Drive communication between all affected parties to develop and implement appropriate controls for new processes, transactions, and products.
• Manage, review, and document risk and control assessments on a regular basis to ensure the function meets corporate standards that specifically relate to internal operating controls. Assist in updating controls, policies, procedures, and risk/control documentation.
• Participate in the planning and execution of walk through and testing.
• Providing leadership and a first level review of walk through and testing performed by the HR Risk Analysts.
• Foster relationships between peers, management, and Finance partners to ensure that common goals are met and that there is active collaboration between team members.
• Serving as a mentor/coach to new and existing Risk and Staff Analysts, as well as lead other teammates in project execution.
• Manage direct reports including: Provide appropriate training, Manage workloads, task completion and quality expectations, prepare and deliver performance reviews.
• Manage an organization that keeps resources productively engaged in risk identification/ mitigation activities.
• Perform other tasks and projects as assigned by the Finance Risk Director and HR Risk Director.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Sound leadership effectiveness and a strong ability to influence executives.
• 7-10 years progressive work related experience with demonstrated proficiency and understanding of operational risk.
• Demonstrated experience with regulatory agencies, requirements, and/or regulatory compliance.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Strong communication skills, both verbally and written.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fluid environment, and to work both independently and as a team member.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 6 years supervisory or management level experience.
• MBA or advanced degree.
• Consulting experience at a corporate level.
• Professional certification or license
• Experience in the financial services industry
• Project management skills
• Strong writing and verbal skills
• Ability to work within a matrix organization
