Model Development Analyst-W440116

Description

The analyst will partner with the model owner, model users, and Model Risk Management Group ("MRMG") to ensure that risks inherent to model development and usage are properly identified and managed. The analyst will adhere to and ensure the Bank's model development efforts meet Corporate Model Development standards, industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

This analyst will report to a wholesale segment model development manager within the Risk Ratings & AML team in Enterprise Risk Model Development ("EMD"). The analyst will be expected to assist other model development team leads as needed, given the project-based nature of the aforementioned job duties.

• Develop/analyze and/or review quantitative credit risk models in support of the company's risk management effort.
• Oversee or assist less experienced analysts.
• Consult with practitioners, the academic community, and other financial institution in researching best practices and new technologies for financial risk models.
• Review and update model documentation (methodology guide, user guide, policy documents, performance monitoring and maintenance guide etc.).
• Perform model testing, replication, and validation of methodology.
• Ensures the company's model risk management efforts meet industry best practices, regulatory requirements (e.g. SR11-7) and internal model risk management guidelines.
• Ensure that risks inherent in model development and usage are properly identified, documented and managed.
• Facilitate common understanding of model methodology and functioning amongst diverse audiences including Regulators (Federal Reserve Bank), Senior Management, Credit practitioners, Model Users, Model Developers, Auditors etc. Research and analyze information about alternative practices.
• Utilize strong quantitative, finance and statistical experience, including experience in the use of software to support quantitative analysis.
• Utilize technical proficiency and experience with: Probability and Statistics; SQL; SAS EG, Finance (time value of money, yield curve).
• Develops, documents, and defends quantitative models independently with a minimum of supervision or oversight
• Researches best practices and new modeling techniques
• Performs complex analysis and draws conclusions
• May oversee or assist less experienced analysts and provide mentorship to junior modelers

Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant field such as Statistics, Economics, Engineering, or Mathematics, or Finance and 2 years of work experience in applicable quantitative analysis, or an equivalent combination of degree and experience.
- Strong quantitative, finance, and statistical background.
- Intermediate to advance level of SAS.

Preferred Requirements:
- Proficiency and wholesale risk rating model development
- PhD in a relevant field
- 3+ years of relevant work experience
- Can handle projects independently with a minimum of oversight and supervision
- Effective communication skills
- Other programming/software familiarity: strong Excel skills, VBA programming, STATA, R
