Manager - Asset Management - Cohen Financial (A Division of SunTrust Bank) Leawood-W435853


Provides management and leadership of assigned teammates and business processes within the Investor Services group, a unit of the Pillar/Cohen Division of SunTrust. The incumbent manages a designated group of professionals for assigned loan servicing, asset management, underwriting and risk management responsibilities for 3rd party clients. Portfolio assignments include highly complex CRE loans secured by transitional assets as well as defaulted loan portfolios. The tasks and business rules may vary by loan type and lender. The incumbent is responsible for operationalizing by leveraging existing policies and procedures or helping design and implement approved adjustments. A key part of the role is to coach the assigned team for successful execution of obligations and requests from 3rd party clients while also helping the individuals on the team to grow professionally.

- Oversight and managing of unit resources efficiently to provide excellent customer service support for both internal and external customers in a timely, efficient and quality manner using various tools and techniques

- Evaluate processes using process improvement approach to enhance productivity, efficiency and service levels

- Responsible for proper execution of assigned duties utilizing appropriate policies, procedures, delegations of authority and applicable contracts for assigned staff and client accounts

- Ensure effective utilization of resources (teammates, vendors) for unit, departmental, division or corporate initiatives.

- Lead recruiting of staff from both internal and external sources, recommend hiring, ensure proper training of staff and proactively manage professional development.

- Review and approve various requests (i.e. e.g., draw requests, lease reviews, covenant triggers, resolution strategies for defaulted loans, disbursements, etc.) within delegations of authority

- Manage approximately 10-30 teammates. May manage one or more Loan Servicing Manager 1


Minimum Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

- 5-10 years of related experience in the financial services industry

- Proven leadership abilities with demonstrated capability to manage, mentor and develop a team

- Strong verbal and written communication skills

- Proven ability to effectively interact and forge relationships with teammates and customers at all levels of the organization

- Demonstrated organization, prioritization/detail-orientation skills

- Proven track record with regard to problem-solving and identifying variances through investigation

- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision

- Disciplined work ethic resulting in accuracy and timely completion of projects

- Professional and polished demeanor

- Strong PC skills, including a demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

- Eligible to manage or perform loan origination or servicing functions under Mortgage Investor or government agency guideline requirements

Preferred Requirements:

- Master's of Business Administration

- 5-10 years commercial loan asset management and/or workout experience, including CMBS

- Prior experience with Enterprise! Loan Management

- Quick adaptability in the use of various software applications
