Mortgage Underwriter 3-W438710

Description

Responsible for underwriting residential first mortgage loans, while ensuring compliance with Bank, FHA/VA, and Secondary Market standards, as well as role-based corporate procedures. Communicate with Processors, Originators, and other internal and external customers. Meet performance standards and goals established by Production Operations and Mortgage Credit Risk Management.

Responsible for underwriting mortgage loans of a complex nature, including Conforming Conventional, FHA and VA, Bond/Housing authority, and Non-Conforming loan products. May be required to assist with projects and development training for fellow teammates.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Five+ years mortgage underwriting experience or equivalent, including three years of experience with manually underwritten and/or non-conforming loan amounts
• Existing DE must meet HUD requirements as outlined in HUD handbook 4000.1
• In depth knowledge of Credit Risk Management principles with a strong capacity to address credit related issues and points of risk to ensure underwriting meets quality assurance and investor standards.
• Ability to perform a comprehensive validation review of credit, income, assets, compliance, policy or program requirements, based on automated or manual underwriting results
• Familiarity with secondary marketing requirements
• Proven effective communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and work effectively in a collaborative , matrix oriented environment
Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience reviewing complex financial documents such as personal and/or business tax returns and financial statements
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
• DE Authority
• VA Authority

Quality and Productivity:

• Ability to meet and preferably exceed productivity expectations in a fast paced, high volume environment with pipeline and conditions management, while maintaining acceptable quality and client satisfaction results.
• Provide timely and accurate communication of credit risk decisions to impacted stakeholders
