Job Description

Environmental Health Scientist

Summit County is recruiting an experienced professional looking to make a difference in a region that takes pride in our Public Health programs. This is a full time position responsible for a variety of professional and complex technical duties related to monitoring, inspecting, and regulating county-wide environmental conditions and influences to assure compliance with state, federal, and local environmental quality laws, regulations, and guidelines. May hire from one of the following levels depending on submitted qualifications and experience.

EH Scientist I Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, Health Physics, Biological Science, or another related field, must become a registered EH Scientist within 18 months of hire, become certified as an inspector in various aspects of EH management through established professional organizations, and complete and maintain EPA hazardous waste training. Salary Range: $22.30 - $31.24/hour.

EH Scientist II Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, Health Physics, Biological Science, or another related field, plus 2 years of progressively responsible experience performing the above or related duties, must be a registered EH Scientist, become certified as an inspector in various aspects of EH management through established professional organizations, and complete and maintain EPA hazardous waste training. Salary Range: $26.56 - $37.20/hour.
