Job Description

SummaCare, a regional health insurance company based in Akron, Ohio, is looking for someone to join our Medicare and Individual Sales Team. The selected candidate will focus on selling Individual Medicare Advantage and Marketplace plans using consultative sales techniques in person, over the phone and through seminars. The primary counties of focus will include Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lorain and Portage.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Sells and enrolls eligible individuals in Medicare and Marketplace plans. Emphasizes and educates advantages of SummaCare products.
  • Meets and maintains goals and targets for sales, established yearly.
  • Performs lead management in timely and efficient manner. Performs administrative duties necessary with lead intake, and follows up to secure sale, including follow up on mailings, cold calls in person and/or on the phone as allowed.
  • Educates community members by making small and large group presentations at various meetings and events.
  • Maintains expert knowledge of all current product benefit plans offerings.
  • Interacts with wide range of population in need of health insurance, including Group Medicare Market and Employers looking to transition to the Individual Market. Develops own lead sources through personal networking, referrals, and responds to other leads in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Reviews changing Federal and State regulations & compliance requirements applicable to job performance, and integrates information in sales presentations, as appropriate.
  • Assures continued service to enrollees after initial enrollments, provides feedback into plan implementation; provides information to current enrollees; addresses questions and concerns about plan, to maintain retention standards.
  • Works closely with Customer/Member Services to resolve enrollee problems.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Maintain familiarity with population to be serviced in our Individual Solution product, Medicare Individual/Group products.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of other products SummaCare sells that can transition into products sold.

Educational Requirement

  • Associates Degree or may substitute with 2 years of like experience.

Required Experience

  • 1+ years performing same or similar responsibilities. Relevant experience includes: Phone sales/prospecting skills, sales cycle follow up, field underwriting, and calendar maintenance.

Required Licenses and/or Certificates

  • Health & Accident License (must be met within ninety days from date of hire). Valid driver license.
