Opportunity

Abt Associates seeks a qualified Research Assistant to support the Division of Health and Environment Division in Bethesda, MD.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

* The candidate(s) will support an interdisciplinary team conducting research in support of national-level environmental programs, including EPA, USACE, NOAA, and others.
* The candidate(s) will carry out research, literature searches, and quantitative analyses for projects encompassing one or more of the following topics: economic and policy analysis, water resource management, environmental management, communication/outreach and training programs, health and ecological risk assessment, and/or general environmental policy and program support.
* Duties may include identifying/accessing/analyzing databases and other information sources;; researching processes, profiling industries, and analyzing trends related to environmental programs; generating tables, charts, maps, and/or web pages to communicate results; researching and writing communications and outreach documents, including user guides, fact sheets, and web pages; and providing logistical support for conferences, trainings, and workshops.

Preferred Skills / Prerequisites

* The ideal candidate will have an outstanding academic record in public policy, environmental science, economics or other relevant academic discipline.
* Excellent oral and written communication and analytical skills are essential.
* Proficiency using Word and Excel is essential.
* The following experience (through employment or academic coursework) and skills are a plus:
* Research experience, especially in the fields of regulatory policy.
* Research experience working with economic, environmental, and/or survey data.
* Experience developing or updating outreach materials or websites.
* Proficiency using database software, such as Access.
* Proficiency using statistical software packages, such as SAS.

Minimum Qualifications

* 0 - 1 years of experience with bachelor degree OR the equivalent combination of education and experience
