Position Summary:

The Director of Sales directs the hotel's sales efforts, as well as actively sells.  He/she is responsible for the development and implementation of revenue generating strategies  designed to meet or exceed group revenue goals. He/she provides daily supervisory guidance to Sales Managers and Sales Coordinator relating to group room rates, contract negotiations, select sell, etc. 

Essential Functions:

  • Actively sales the property to the group market segment.
  • Develops and implements targeted group market strategies.
  • Direct and coordinate sales activities.
  • Direct the achievement of room and F&B revenue via direct group sales
  • Responsible for the recruitment, selection, training, and performance evaluations for sales managers and sales coordinator.
  • Responsible for monitoring sales production
  • Participate in determining price schedules and group rates
  • Represent company at trade shows and local associations where necessary
  • Prepare group room night and revenue budgets.
  • Budget management: prepares group room night and revenue budgets and ensures that all areas under their direct control operate within approved guidelines. Make recommendations and changes to spending allocations to achieve desired results.
  • Resolves customer complaints regarding sales and service.
  • Review operational records and reports to project sales and determine profitability.
  • Works with other Directors to ensure that catering and sales efforts remain consistent with overall property performance objectives, maximizing available function space for highest revenue/profit potential
  • Work with the Director of Marketing to develop a meetings advertising campaign
  • Ensure hotel standards maintained
  • Division Head participation

 

Other Responsibilities:

  • Acquire membership in those organizations that are beneficial to the Lodge relating to group sales
  • Community involvement that provides benefit to the Lodge
  • Work with Preferred Hotel and Resorts and the Carino Group relating to the group sales effort.

 

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

College degree or equivalent experience. Minimum 3 to 5 years experience as a Director of Sales in a luxury hotel or regional office. Knowledge of principles and methods for successful sales efforts, such as sales techniques, sales controls, etc. As well as, working experience in hotel sales office. Proven managing skills, such as reconciling difference, motivating staff, etc. Strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills required. Knowledge of the principles for providing luxury customer service. Marketing experience helpful.
