Job Description

Communications Coordinator Steamboat Chamber is looking for a team player to help carry out our mission of supporting and sustaining a vibrant, healthy economy in Steamboat Springs and surrounding areas.

The Position:

We are seeking a passionate, creative, results driven team player to manage the Chamber’s communication efforts. The Communications Coordinator is responsible for creating member communications, assisting in marketing efforts, social media, content creation and media and public relations. This person will collaborate across departments to create cohesive messaging for all Chamber communications. Strong verbal and written communications are required. This position reports to the Marketing Director.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Create and distribute all membership emails and Monday Minute
  • Maintain Chamber presence on social media channels along with Web and Communications Manager
  • Work with Marketing Director and Public Relations contractor to coordinate all press trips, media stays and engagement
  • Maintain and enhance photo library for media and collateral usage
  • Fulfill photo and information requests of journalists
  • Write and distribute press releases for events, membership, marketing, and other purposes
  • Develop and distribute Public Service Announcements to local media
  • Write engaging content for e-newsletters, website and blog as needed
  • Manage the SSCRA Complimentary Lodging program
  • Maintain and build relationships with all local businesses and activity companies
  • Update and manage the online media center
  • Serve as the administrator of the Steamboat Springs Film Committee and facilitate bi-monthly meetings. Maintain consistent contact with the Colorado Office of Film, Television and Media and assist potential film productions with staffing, location and permit needs.
  • Schedule Ribbon Cuttings and manage photos
  • Manage updates and submission of publication grids including the Relocation Guide and Visitors’ Guide
  • Provide membership support in Simpleview (CRM Software) to keep communications and web content accurate
  • Create and manage press passes and waivers for various events
  • Work a flexible schedule outside of normal working hours where required
  • Performing other duties that may be assigned to this position from the CEO and Marketing Director
