Job Description

This vacancy announcement is for 2 separate full-time, annual year, on-site Systems Programmer positions: a Data Warehouse Developer and a Software Engineer/Developer II. Although separate, these positions have some skills and responsibilities that overlap.

UW-Stout is unable to provide green card or H1B sponsorship for these positions. The position we are currently seeking requires successful applicants to be responsible for ensuring their eligibility to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the United States, a lawful permanent resident, a foreign national authorized to work in the United States without need of employer sponsorship) on or before the effective date of appointment.


These positions work under general supervision of the Enterprise Information Systems (EIS) team in Learning and Information Technology at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. These positions follow and perform work on projects identified by priority setting guidelines within the department, and report status of projects that are under development. Positions provide software support to staff using PeopleSoft Campus Solutions (the colleges student information system), Salesforce, and UW-Stouts Data Warehouse environment. Tools include Oracle database, Informatica (both PowerCenter and Cloud), Salesforce, PL/SQL and Oracles OBIEE for Data Warehouse reporting.

These positions serve system users especially in administrative and academic departments as an authority for initiating all systems changes and problems, by providing direction, guidance and consultation on Information Systems technical issues; helping to determine the most feasible solution to customer problems.

Candidates selected will work in a team environment, managing multiple tasks, accept responsibility for mission critical systems, meet deadlines and be able to respond to ever changing business needs and technology to meet the general goals of the University.

Qualifications: Minimum / Required

Data Warehouse Developer

o Data warehouse development and reporting experience

Software Engineer/Developer II

o Experience with developing and supporting enterprise application software such as PeopleSoft


Oracle database query/reporting experience

Reporting from PeopleSoft tools and tables, particularly Campus Solutions

Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition development and reporting experience, including RPD development, data modeling and familiarity with physical-logical-presentation layers

Data warehouse development and reporting experience

Ability to diagnose and solve highly complex problems with application and database management system infrastructure

Experience leading large projects in an enterprise technology environment with emphasis on communication to customers and team members

Experience working with higher education

Strong written and oral communication skills

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community, both independently and on team assignments

Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills

Willingness to work some holidays, evenings, and weekends

Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a related field
