Job Description

The faculty member will contribute 75% effort as a member of the Health and Wellness in Aging Populations Core and will serve as a nursing faculty member within the program sites of the Richmond Health and Wellness Program approximately 3 days per week. The incumbent will participate in implementation science and contribute to existing funded research and scholarship activities. Duties may involve assisting research projects, data management, and evaluation. The faculty member will be integrated as a full team member within the daily operations of the Richmond Health and Wellness Program as well as lead practicum experiences for a diverse group of interprofessional students; these practicums frequently consist of providing wellness services. The incumbent will contribute 25% effort as a faculty member within the School of Nursing, contributing to teaching, and/or service activities. The position is expected to be academically housed in the Department of Family and Community Health Nursing.

Minimum Qualifications

* Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU. * Graduate degree in Nursing. * Licensed or eligible for licensure as a registered nurse (RN) and Family Nurse Practitioner in Virginia. * Demonstrated independence and effectiveness in performance as a registered nurse with a focus on health disparities/vulnerable populations and community based nursing. * A deep commitment to inclusive teaching and preceptorship. * Demonstrated experiences and a commitment to effectively engage with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, program participants, and community partners.

Preferred Qualifications

* Terminal degree of DNP or PhD in nursing or related field * Academic, research and/or professional experiences with urban and other underserved populations * Interest in serving as a member of a transdisciplinary team * Experiential learning through lived experiences and/or professional service that inform world-views and/or perspectives about minority group status, to include race, age, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, and disability

Special Requirements

Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), the Institute for Inclusion, Inquiry & Innovation (iCubed), and the School of Nursing seek applicants for a full-time, non-tenure eligible, 12-month position to enhance the Health and Wellness in Aging Populations Transdisciplinary Core. The position appointment is up to three years and may be renewable. The Health and Wellness in Aging Populations Transdisciplinary Core addresses problems related to older adults ?aging in place?? within urban, Richmond, Virginia. The core focuses on individuals who are economically disadvantaged or disabled, including those living in subsidized senior apartments. In partnership with community members, the core engages a diverse team of health professionals, academics, urban planners, policy experts, and housing experts, to develop a sustainable program of translational research, education, and service delivery. The core aims to be a national leader in team science, and to make contributions in areas such as the social determinants of health and health disparities among older adults.
