Job Description

Serves as the Fiscal Technician for the Communication and Theatre Arts Department under the guidance of the Chair. Duties include budget management, projecting, and reporting for the department's multiple budgets, travel arrangements for faculty, students, and visiting contractors, payment processing for adjunct payroll, and use of the Pcard and eVA procurement system to procure goods and services. Supports dance, theatre, communications (including grad program, online program, and PR program), and film programs, to include productions and day-to-day operations. This individual also processing adjunct and full-time faculty payroll. Completes hiring paperwork for part-time and student employees throughout the department.

Minimum Qualifications

Strong knowledge of general budgetary principles and the operations of multiple budget lines. Working knowledge of PC-and-Mac-based software such as the Microsoft Office Suite and information systems such as Banner or a similar program. Working knowledge of effective customer service and problem resolution techniques. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Demonstrated ability to maintain records and files. Demonstrated ability to work well with diverse groups of people. Demonstrated ability to prepare correspondence, produce reports and manipulate data.

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of Commonwealth of Virginia and/or ODU policies and procedures related to fiscal matters. Education beyond a high school diploma. Some Banner experience.
