Job Description

Hiram W. Davis Medical Center (HWDMC), a patient centered team of professionals located near Petersburg, Virginia, is recruiting for an Occupational Therapist. This is an excellent opportunity to join a progressive team of professionals in a 94-bed medical facility which provides Skilled Nursing, Intermediate care, and General-Medical level of care. This facility is CMS/VDH and JEC accredited. This position plans and develops occupational therapy treatment programs. Duties involve providing direct occupational therapy services to patients to include assessment, individual treatment planning, program planning, implementation, and related documentation and communication. The Occupational Therapist also provides clinical supervision of services to COTA/L and OT Dept Aide, and services as requested for Office of Integrated Health (OIH) in coordination with OT Dept Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

Successful incumbents will have working knowledge of the principles and practices of occupational therapy and self-evaluation techniques. Working level in clinical skills including splinting and positioning; ability to conceptualize, evaluate and assess patients' needs, design treatment plans; communicate effectively orally and in writing; and to fabricate adaptive equipment. Occupational Therapy Degree (undergraduate or graduate) from an Occupational Therapy School accredited by the American Occupational Therapy Association. National Certification by the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy, Inc. and Licensed as an Occupational Therapist by the Virginia Board of Medicine to practice as an Occupational Therapist in Virginia is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Some experience in occupational therapy services or successful completion of supervised internships. Some experience in clinical supervision of OT services and program delivery preferred.
