Job Description

The Department of Technology at Norfolk State University seeks applications for a tenure-track Building Construction Technology position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 2017. The mission of the Department of Technology is to provide programs and services which prepare student graduates for a variety of responsible technology management, and applied engineering positions in industry, business and government. The Department of Technology is fully accredited by the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering (ATMAE). The successful candidate will: 1. Teach a variety of courses including construction management, facility management, surveying, architectural drafting, AutoCAD, building codes and specifications, engineering mechanics, steel structures, and soil mechanics. 2. Possess excellent communication skills. 3. Have a strong commitment to teaching excellence. 4. Be self-motivated to develop partnerships with industry/or applied research programs. 5. Advise students. 6. Participate in recruitment activities. 7. Participate in ongoing assessment. 8. Perform scholarly activities. 9. Submit proposals for external funding. 10. Minimum Qualifications

1. Must possess a Ph.D in Construction Management or Civil Engineering. 2. Have at least three (3) years of relevant industrial experience. 3. Considerable knowledge in the areas of construction management, facility management, surveying, architectural drafting, AutoCAD, building codes and specifications, engineering mechanics, steel structures and soil mechanics. 4. Considerable knowledge of external source funding. 5. Demonstrated ability to recruit, advise, students and participate in ongoing assessment.
