Job Information This is a position with the Application Support section of the Enterprise Technology Services Division (ETSD) of the Office of the State Court Administrator (OSCA) of the Oregon Judicial Department (OJD). The Application Support section designs, develops, maintains, and supports OJD's software for ETSD customers. The purpose of this position is to assist in the administration of MS SQL databases for all enterprise SQL applications. Responsibilities include installing and upgrading database software, monitoring and tuning database performance, managing scheduled jobs and providing technical assistance to OSCA and trial court staff. Additionally the person in this position assists an applications integration team in developing, documenting, and deploying integrations to all enterprise systems via multiple avenues including Biztalk, application API's and various other data import techniques.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Typical job duties include, but are not limited to, the tasks listed below. Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs. Assist in providing SQL Server database support, administration, and maintenance needed to ensure database and system level security, reliability, and stability for OJD applications. SQL Server database administration support will be responsible for maintaining and monitoring the SQL Server development and testing environments. Other activities include configuration management and enterprise data management. Assist in the development, documentation and deployment of system integrations for case management, financial management, and other systems used throughout OJD's enterprise environment. Provide technical database assistance to ETSD staff, research analysts, management, end-users, and other planners, both intra-agency and inter-agency, to enable them to generate their own analyses, reports or use of the data from case management and financial management systems. Respond to questions, and diagnose problems in the OJD case management and financial management systems. Develop and manage effective working relationships with customers and other departments/agencies, divisions and personnel who use the case management and financial management systems. Communicate with high-level non-technical staff in written and oral formats, and explain difficult technical information in a manner easily understood by non-technical individuals. Performs other duties as assigned. Working Conditions This is a full-time position. The work schedule currently is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. It is not eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked in excess of 40 per work week. This position does not offer a flex or alternative schedule. Occasional after-hours or weekend work and workday travel may be required. The following equipment will be used on a regular daily basis: telephone with optional headset, computer equipment and personal computer with screen monitor. Long hours are often required working on a computer and looking at a screen monitor. You must have a current driver's license and an acceptable driving record or be able to provide an acceptable alternate means of transportation. Lifting and moving computer equipment or other office equipment weighing approximately 25 pounds.

Qualifications & Desired Attributes:

Minimum Qualifications The qualified applicant must have a bachelor's degree in information technology, business administration, mathematics, engineering, or a related field that involves implementation of information technology systems, application development, or systematic problem solving techniques. AND A minimum of two years of recent experience in database analysis and administration. OR Any combination of education and experience equivalent to five (5) years of experience that would typically support the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Preference may be given to applicants with experience: performing SQL Server database administration and maintenance; designing and developing enterprise system integrations; and providing technical support. Additional Information:

Salary The Judicial Department's practice is to begin employees at the first pay step. However, a higher starting pay rate may be considered depending upon the applicant's current salary and benefits, education, and experience. For current non-temporary OJD employees, JDPR 4.03(3)(d) states that upon promotion an employee shall normally receive a one-step pay increase from the employee's current pay rate (not including differentials under JDPR 4.07) to the next higher rate in the salary range to which the employee is promoted. JDPR 4.03(3)(e) states that upon transfer to another position with the same salary range, the transferring employee retains the same pay rate. Conduct Expectations Because of the Oregon Judicial Department's role in providing justice and upholding the rule of law, employees of the Department are required to meet the highest standards of professional conduct and ethics while on the job, and also to maintain those same high standards when taking actions in their personal lives that could reflect on the Department. Criminal History Check The selection process includes a criminal history check using the Law Enforcement Data System (LEDS). Felony convictions may be an automatic bar to employment. Misdemeanor convictions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may be a bar to employment if the circumstances of the crime are directly related to the duties and responsibilities of the position for which application is made. Depending on the job, in addition to the criminal history check described above, you may be required to pass an Oregon State Police/Federal Bureau of Investigation background check and consent to finger printing by the Oregon State Police. Bilingual Pay Differential Some employees may be assigned to use bilingual skills in the regular performance of the employee's duties. An employee who, as assigned in writing by the administrative authority, uses bilingual skill(s) (including American Sign Language) in the performance of assigned duties and who passes the bilingual skill proficiency test(s) approved by the State Court Administrator, shall receive a monthly pay differential equal to an additional step for the duration of each assignment as determined by the administrative authority.
