Job Description

In the Office of Business & Economic Opportunity (OBEO), Certification Section, assists with SBE/DBE certification eligibility reviews. Assists firms via telephone &/or email with certification application, annual declarations and requests for information (e.g., explains & responds to internal and external customer's questions about process & regarding application status). Reviews the Ohio Unified Certification Program webpage to ensure information is accurate & easily accessible by internal/external contacts. Maintains ineligibility list (e.g., makes entries into Ineligibility Determination Online Database; checks database monthly against list of certified firms & applicants; documents work activities; updates certification records). Responds to requests for information from other states & the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT).

Scans documents & ensures completeness & accuracy of scanned files; organizes electronic files; appropriately handles confidential information (e.g., personal & business information). Researches responses to inquiries & uses computer related software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel) to compile & analyze documents &/or data, enter appropriate data into record; prepare reports; draft correspondence; develop mail mergers; & proofread &/or edit letters & memos prepared by staff. Assists staff with conducting investigations of DBE/SBE firms. Attends training sessions & staff meetings & interacts with & responds to inquiries from internal &/or external customers (e.g., DBE/SBE firms, ODOT personnel). Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned by supervisor, administrator, or Deputy Director.

This is a temporary position involving various duties that permit exposure to the student's field of study &/or provide experience that is a useful addition to the student's education & meaningful preparation for future professional employment.

This Position is Unclassified per Section 124.11(A)(29)

Must be enrolled in a college or university and in good academic standing.
