Description

The Nebraska Ethanol Board is seeking a Public Information Officer to help achieve its mission to establish procedures and processes necessary to the manufacturing and marketing of ethanol fuel. The Public Information Officer I with the Nebraska Ethanol Board is responsible for graphic design and copywriting of promotional and educational materials for the public. This includes brochures, newsletters, digital publications, conference materials, etc. This employee also serves as the web master and social media coordinator for the agency. In addition, the PIO handles administrative duties like answering phones, checking mail, maintaining hardcopy records, stocking hardcopy information, greeting office guests, scheduling meetings, and completion of paperwork.

Hours: 8-5, Monday - Friday.

Job location is the Nebraska State Office Building, Downtown.

Examples of Work

* Writes, designs, edits and compiles copy and layout for publications and educational displays. Works with print shops in getting new publications printed correctly.
* Develops and updates graphics, maps, digital publications, and layouts for the agency's website and hardcopy publications including newsletter and marketing handouts.
* Speaks with consumers about ethanol fuels, distiller grains, and environmental benefits of the biofuels sector, job opportunities, internships and other programs associated with the ethanol sector in a professional, independent manner.
* Serves as agency web master. Manages web content of interactive maps and ethanol industry statistics including individual plant statistics and contact information.
* Further develops and manages social networking interaction with media and consumers; publicize and market events, educational information forums, press releases and presentations.
* Handles administrative duties like answering phones, checking mail, maintaining hardcopy records, stocking hardcopy information, greeting office guests, scheduling meetings, filling out paperwork, etc.
* Acts as records manager. Transfers historical hardcopy documents into digital records for storage and filing on computer server. Works to make the office more efficient with digital information.
* Other duties as assigned

Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: Vocational/Technical diploma or Associate Degree in journalism, communications, public relations or related field and one year of experience in planning and conducting public relations/information activities. Experience may substitute for education on a year for year basis.

PREFERRED: Bachelor's Degree in journalism, public relations, visual arts, communications, advertising, creative writing or related field. Experience with AP Style. OTHER: Regular and reliable attendance

* Competency with Adobe Creative Suite Programs
