State of Michigan Internship Program Overview

Currently Accepting Applications for the Fall 2019 Semester

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) will protect, preserve, and promote the health and safety of the people of Michigan, with particular attention to providing for the needs of vulnerable and underserved populations. MDHHS is one of the largest of the executive branch departments. MDHHS is responsible for health policy and management of the state's health, mental health, and substance use care systems. MDHHS is seeking an intern for the Ottawa County MDHHS office. Graduates and undergraduates studying in the human services field are encouraged to apply but any major will be considered. This internship is an unpaid internship opportunity with an opening for the Fall 2019 semester (September through December 2019).

Intern Responsibilities/Project:

* Scanning and uploading documents into MiSACWIS
* Maintaining sections of MiSACWIS, such as Education
* Filing documents into case files
* Transporting parents, caregivers, children/youth, etc. as needed
* Monitoring/supervising parenting time and/or sibling visits and reporting outcome of visits to assigned caseworkers
* Making telephone calls
* Scheduling parenting/sibling visits
* Sending emails/letters
* Completing documents/service referrals as needed
* Other duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience

At the time of internship, you must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program to be considered for the State of Michigan internship.

* Organization
* Punctual and adaptable
* Quality verbal/communication skills
* Quality writing skills
* Valid driver's license with good driving record
* Willing and able to work with children and families
