Idaho Falls Regional Office is hiring an Environmental Scientist to conduct water samples for the INL Oversight Program.


* Conduct and maintain a sound ground water quality program for INL Oversight Program
* Implementing and maintain water sampling activities including sample preparation, collection, tracking and reporting findings to the public through quarterly and annual reports.
* Maintain the repair and maintenance of all sampling equipment.
* Update and revise the programs Sampling Analysis Plans, equipment instruction, and SOPs as identified.
* Verify and supplement INL water quality data and monitor for the presence of environmental contaminants that may have originated from INL activities.
* Investigate INL water quality and geological issues as appropriate.
* Support the public awareness program with presentations, and participate in water quality/environmental related functions as needed.
* Review, and evaluate documents, studies or reports that address adverse impacts from proposed or existing activities at DOE Idaho.
* Position requires incumbents receive and maintain a DOE 'L' clearance for security purposes to include passing a drug screening test

Minimum Qualifications:

* Possession of a Bachelor's degree in the physical or biological sciences, political science, business or public administration, engineering, or related natural resources management field OR, any combination of education and/or experience equivalent to a typical four (4) year Bachelor's degree. For example: Successful completion of sixty (60) semester hours of study, including twenty-four (24) semester hours in a subject required for the specific discipline, is equivalent to two (2) years of undergraduate education; and/or experience performing routine duties in completing multiple tasks such as policy research, data collection, interpretation, analysis and preparation of reports and written documents for at least two (2) years can substitute for one (1) year of college.


* At least four (4) years' experience managing and implementing, projects or component(s) of programs that are environmental, regulatory, or administrative in nature, where you were required to routinely perform program or project planning; provide technical assistance to staff, special interest groups and the public; and provide policy and/or regulatory interpretation and/or development.


Possession of a Master's degree in any of the above fields AND at least two (2) years' professional experience managing and implementing, or overseeing projects or component(s) of programs that are environmental in nature, where you were required to routinely perform program or project planning; provide technical assistance to staff, special interest groups and the public; and provide policy and/or regulatory interpretation and/or development.


Possession of a Doctor of Philosophy in the sciences or related field

Specialty Minimum Qualifications (required for this position):

3022 WATER: I have successfully attained a Bachelor's degree with coursework in either geology, hydrogeology, geophysics, environmental science, geochemistry, environmental health, environmental or civil engineering, soil science, or in a closely related field AND I have approximately three (3) years of full-time work experience in the areas of aquifer assessment, aquifer protection, ground water or surface and drinking water pollution; such as designing, reviewing or implementing any of the following: water contamination investigations, groundwater remediation projects, TMDl evaluations, groundwater and surface or drinking water monitoring projects;


Possession of a Master's degree in any of the previously listed fields AND approximately two (2) years of full-time work experience performing the

previous examples of work.

Desirable Qualifications (the education and/or experience below is not required but preference may be given to individuals with these qualifications.):

* Bachelor degree or advanced degree in the area of soils or agronomy
* G.I.T. or P.G. in hydrogeology
