Job Description

Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Financial Aid Technician position, in the Office of Financial Aid. This position is located on Atlanta Tech's Main Campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta.

Job Description:

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Financial Aid Director, the Financial Aid Technician serves as the first point of contact for students inquiring about Financial Aid.

Duties will include but not limited to:

* Helping students apply for all types of aid and providing updates on the status of their applications;

* Responsible for opening the Office of Financial Aid each day;

* Perform exceptional customer service for internal and external customers;

* Responsible for performing administrative, clerical, and customer service duties in support of the Office of Financial Aid;

* Professionally disseminate general Financial Aid information to students and the general public;

* Provide information regarding Financial Aid resources available to students and parents;

* Evaluate Financial Aid applications and supporting documents for accuracy, clarity and completeness to determine basic eligibility for Financial Aid;

* Update appropriate BANNER forms and other Financial Aid Software related to document intake process;

* Instruct students in correct procedures for completing forms and applications;

* Analyze and determines status of applications and forms and referring complex situations to the appropriate Financial Aid Specialist;

* Manage the Office of Financial Aid email account and front desk telephones;

* Any other related duties.

COMPETENCIES: Knowledge of student Financial Aid processes and procedures; knowledge of State and Federal Financial Aid programs, regulations and guidelines; skill in the operation of computers and job-related software programs; skill in interpersonal relations and effectively communicating with internal and external customers.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED *and* One (1) year of work related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate's degree *and* Two (2) years of related work experience. Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis. Experience working in administration within Financial Aid Office. Experience in Banner Financial Aid Module.
