Description of Job

The purpose of this part-time collegiate internship is to provide meaningful professional public administration experience to collegiate students with proven academic performance and a strong desire to learn and contribute. The Transportation Performance & Asset Management Branch informs both external and internal customers of the performance of a multi modal system and the management of transportation assets at CDOT. This includes informing CDOT senior management and the public on the performance of the department to help them make informed decisions with limited resources.

DUTIES include the following but not limited to:

1) Assisting CDOT Transportation Performance Branch Reporting Projects with:

* Assisting development of meaningful performance measures for the department
* Assisting with the development of reports and "scorecards" that display department performance in a visual format;
* Assisting with the development and maintenance of both internal and external reporting websites;

2) Assisting Transportation Performance Branch staff with performance reporting meetings, including by attending meetings, taking notes, creating PowerPoint materials, etc.;

3) Assisting with the verification and archiving of performance data;

4) Assisting with data analysis on asset management program;

5) Assisting with report editing; and

6) Performing other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

* Any college student enrolled in an accredited community college, college or university seeking an Associates, Bachelor's, Masters or Ph.D degree in a public administration curriculum or a discipline related to data analysis, statistical analysis, political science, public administration, journalism, information science, or related fields


* A recent college graduate. Recently graduated means the individual should have attended an accredited college or university and have graduated with an Associates, Bachelors, Masters or Ph.D degree within three calendar years


* A certified participant in the Colorado Refugee Services Program

The Exceptional Applicant will be an undergraduate or graduate college/university student interested in applying process improvement techniques in an organization and has proven accomplishments in the following:

* Completion of at least 2 years or more in an accredited university in a public administration curriculum or a discipline related to data analysis, statistical analysis, political science, public administration, journalism, information science, or related fields;
* Experience in data analysis and basic data modeling techniques;
* Knowledge of government transportation policy;
* Excellent interpersonal skills;
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
* Experience editing publications or other documents;
* Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision;
* Familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite and Gmail; experience with Microsoft SharePoint & Google Drive a plus;
* Experience developing graphs and charts using the Microsoft Office suite.

Employment Screening
