Job Description

DUTIES Under the direct supervision of the Education Administrator I of the School Turnaround Office (STO) and the Director of the Improvement and Accountability Division, and working cooperatively with other California Department of Education (CDE) units, the Staff Programmer Analyst (SPA) is responsible for organizing and managing Information Technology (IT) projects, analyzing, researching, and evaluating existing procedures, and preparing reports for various programs administered by the Department. The SPA is responsible for developing and implementing more complex multi-user information systems, including analysis, design, testing, implementation, documentation, and trouble-shooting.

Design and develop complex, relational databases using the CDE standard database management system, Microsoft SQL Server
Create ad hoc program solutions, develop and maintain custom applications using the CDE standard development and office automation tools
Perform more complex data analyses to show trends in growth in student achievement for all student groups under various programs administered by the Department
Plan, organize, direct, and manage project activities to achieve project objectives
