Job Description

OFFICE OF THE ARIZONA ATTORNEY GENERAL

The Arizona Attorney General's Office Civil Litigation Division/Consumer Protection and Advocacy Section is seeking a Legal Assistant Project Specialist to process auto-related complaints and analyze complaint trends to assist section management in identifying appropriate matters for investigation. The position will monitor business practices and gather information to be reviewed by attorneys to determine whether an investigation/civil action should be conducted.

This position is a temporary funded position for two to three years.

REQUIREMENTS

* Travel may be required for this position. A valid Arizona Driver's License is required, along with consent to have your driving record run periodically.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Knowledge needed:

* Knowledge of legal research methods and sources, and the ability to conduct legal research using Westlaw and library materials.
* Knowledge of rules of citation, statutes, and court rules and practices.

Skills needed:

* Skills in legal research and in the communication of facts and legal theories.
* Advanced skills in both oral and written communications.

Abilities needed:

* Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
* Ability to work with the public; grasp points being made by others, whether from the consumers, the businesses, the case attorney, the judge's ruling, or opposing counsel's argument, oral or written.
* Ability to use computerized word processing programs; ability to organize large numbers of documents.
* Ability to produce complete, accurate and factual legal research, and summaries of complaints and cases.
* Ability to prepare memoranda and correspondence.
* Must be able to handle a high volume of work and stressful situations.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

* Ideal Candidates will have four years full-time employment as a paralegal, civil litigation experience.
* Bachelor's Degree and/or Paralegal Certification.
