OUTREACH & EVENT SPECIALIST

LOCATION: Arizona State Parks Central Office

This is a Temporary/Seasonal Position, may work up to 40 hours per week and up to 1500 hours per year.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

This position primarily works for Marketing.

This position will assist with outreach events located throughout Arizona. This position will be versed in entry level marketing procedures in order to assist the full-time marketing staff with projects as needed. Duties may also include correspondence and other basic office duties. This position may work weekends, holidays and evenings. Travel throughout the State of Arizona will be required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Knowledge of: principles and practices of parks and recreation, public land management, interpretive studies, Arizona ecology and history, public relations, communication and event planning.

Skills in: communication and outreach, event planning, social media photography, Mac and IBM products, point of sale operation, Microsoft Office suite, Adobe suite, finding information online (attraction info, directions, event info) and assisting travelers with park info and plans.

Ability to: work independently and as a member of a team, oral and written expression, work nights and weekends to coincide with projects, work in small and large groups, work effectively and efficiently with ASP staff, meet internal and external deadlines, travel regularly and stay overnight as needed. Ability to gain and maintain an Arizona State Driver's License.

Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.).

Eligible for Arizona State Retirement System pension. Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment for newly hired State of Arizona employees.
