SBD's 3D Academy is a paid engineering internship program which feeds entry level 3D CAD roles. The program is located at the Power Tool & Outdoor Product Headquarters in Towson, Maryland, and supports the exciting portfolio of Brands - DEWALT, Craftsman, Black+Decker, Bostitch, Porter Cable, Stanley FATMAX.

If you are a student local to the Towson area, looking to get into product development, this is an excellent opportunity! The intern positions are typically 20 hours per week during school semesters, allowing students to continue with their regular class schedule while gaining valuable experience at a Fortune 500 company. During the Summer break the internship becomes 40 hours per week. Students who excel during the intern program will be considered for full time CAD Designer positions.

3 new openings will be available in January 2020.

Job Specifications

* Create new parametric 3D models, Assemblies and 2D drawings in CATIA V5-6 for new product development teams under the direction of the CATIA Best Practices Team.
* Modify CAD files for mature product, including file conversions from other systems into CATIA V5-6.
* Conduct reverse engineering activity using a laser scanner and relevant CAD tools
* Manage CAD files within the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system (Windchill)
* Note that high quality training will be provided for CATIA and Windchill systems.

Candidate Specification

* Candidates will be on 2 Year Associates Degree in CADD or Mechanical Engineering.
* Candidates will be local to the Towson, Maryland area in order to support a part-time work schedule.
* Experience in one or more 3D CAD program is required - e.g. CATIA, Solidworks, CREO Parametric, Inventor
* Ability to think logically and parametrically when creating CAD models
* Capable of collaborating effectively with a design team
* Desire to learn and excel in 3D design and product development
* Good communication and interpersonal skills
