SHC NEW GRADUATE RN RESIDENCY PROGRAM

Consider accelerating your nursing career at a world-renowned medical institution in our one-year New Graduate RN Residency Program. After the conclusion of the 9-12 week clinical orientation program, residents will continue to receive mentoring and continuing education support bi-monthly from our SHC Nurse Educators, CNS, et al. The program is based on a partnership with the University Health System – Consortium (UHC) and American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN). Our comprehensive program combines didactic information, supervised clinical practice and competency-based training to meet the multiple needs of Stanford’s many units, as well as to encourage the development of evidence-based practice and critical thinking.

Qualifications

SHC New Graduate RN Residency Program Qualifications:

  • Must be a graduate from a BSN or MSN program, accredited by National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), from 12/1/11 through 06/25/12.
  • Must have no paid RN work experience prior to 09/24/12.
  • Must have a current California RN license by 7/20/12.
  • Must have a BLS-HCP level certification issued by the American Heart Association by 7/20/12.
  • Must submit ALL additional documentation for the SHC New Graduate RN Residency Program.
    • Completed application.
    • Must complete online assessment within 24 hours.
    • 3 School of Nursing clinical faculty instructor references, (School of Nursing Faculty who supervised your clinical rotations).  The signature area must include their School of Nursing faculty position.  NOTE:  Reference letter documents should be on school letterhead and less than 1 MB in size.
    • Resume to include number of clinical hours and location/placement for rotations and senior capstone/preceptorship.
    • Most recent transcripts. 
  • Willing to commit to the one-year Residency Program.
