St. Christopher's Hospital for Children

St. Christopher's Hospital for Children was established in 1875 to provide health care to the children of North Philadelphia. Despite our name, the hospital and residency are not affiliated with any religious group. St. Christopher's historical accomplishments include a long list of innovations in the medical care of children. In the 1880s, it was the first hospital in the region to open a ward for sick infants. The hospital also took pioneering steps when it created a transport service in the 1890s and a Handicapped Children's Unit in the 1940s. Though the hospital has since become a major ...
