Events Manager

The Spokesman-Review is the most used and most trusted news and information provider in the Inland Northwest. We’ve served the community for over a century by providing up to date, accurate information on news and events taking place right outside your backdoor.

We are now looking to expand and build on our events business with a new and exciting opportunity for an Events Manager within our Marketing Department. If you have the passion and creativity to coordinate, develop and provide exciting and quality marketing events which will continue to promote The Spokesman-Review in the community, then this is the position for you.

The Events Manager coordinates and executes all aspects of The Spokesman-Review’s external and internal events. The individual is responsible for project  planning, budget and facilitation of events, and post-event evaluation and follow up.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Research and identify opportunities for community events tied to and independent of The Spokesman-Review products and initiatives, with input from Marketing Department leadership.
• Facilitate pre- and post-event plans including event goals and objectives, social and traditional marketing, onsite plan, and post-show internal and external
reporting.
• Assist with pre- and post-event promotional copywriting.
• Work closely with event sales leads and advertising SEs to identify potential partners, sponsors and exhibitors.
• Negotiate and strategically partner with vendors, recruiting and managing event staff, and work with SEs on direct sales to sponsors and/or partners.
• Serve as point of contact for vendors, suppliers and clients pre-event, on event day, and
post-event.
• Build and track event budgets within allocated event expense plans.
• Develop/ implement/ enforce event procedures and policies.
• Identify opportunities for new events working with Marketing Department leadership.
• Supervise Events Sales Executive to meet/exceed event sales targets; supervise Events Intern/ Coordinator to assist with day-to-day logistics and
other tasks.
• Assist and support Marketing Department leadership in developing traditional and non-traditional events new to the Greater Spokane area.

• Have a thorough knowledge of various multimedia platforms, and the ability to decipher the success/ failure of a promotion on these platforms.
• You have the skills that will allow you to meet and exceed marketing goals.
• You have the ability to provide exceptional customer service and the ability to work effectively and independently in a fluid business climate.
• Able to work events that may be outside of regular office days and hours; including evenings weekends and may require periodic travel.
• You have a college degree with 5 years related work experience/ training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The position has a starting pay rate of $48,000 annually, with bonus potential, and offers a full suite of benefits (medical, dental, life insurance, etc.), paid vacation and sick time, and a matching 401(k) program.
