Job Description

Sparling, a "Best Place to Work" firm, is seeking an entry level Project Designer, Electrical Engineering. Our projects include major hospitals, data centers, university campuses, military projects, and high-rise commercial office buildings . This is a full-time positions based in our Lynnwood, WA office.

Project Designer, Electrical Engineering

Applies basic technical design skills and design documentation processes to produce accurate and timely deliverables.

Handles design development and document preparation in written and computer-aided design formats.

Collaborates with project managers as part of a coordinated design team.

Effectively delegates work to production support staff.

Under the direction of the project manager, supports project requirements including opinions-of-probable-costs estimates, drawing documentation and systems design.

Develops efficient and accurate solutions to design problems.

Researches, prepares, and presents coordinated design options.

Reviews drawings and researches code issues to comply with city, state, and county regulations.

Communicates with manufacturers and contractors to address challenges and develop practical designs.

Provides contract documents that meet required codes and quality assurance standards.

Develops knowledge of technologies and trends, as they apply to the applicable project and market types, and continually strengthens skills.

Ideal candidates will have:

Basic design knowledge in electrical engineering, with a personal commitment to continually improving skills in the field.

Ability to prepare detailed drawings with supervision.

Ability to integrate design elements with architectural, civil, structural, and mechanical disciplines to deliver a coordinated design.

Knowledge of discipline specific systems for the built environment.

Basic knowledge applicable codes and standards.

Ability to apply logic, reasoning, and organizational skills to structure concepts and ideas into deliverables.

Ability to demonstrate a credible and trustworthy presence through professionalism and demeanor.

Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to prepare and present accurate, professionally written reports and recommendations.

Familiarity with recent versions of AutoCAD; in particular, AutoCAD MEP and Revit MEP.

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Working knowledge of software programs applicable to design discipline.

Bachelors' degree in related field and related professional or internship experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated skills.

Other qualifications we seek:

Strong working knowledge of recent versions of AutoCAD; in particular, AutoCAD MEP and Revit MEP.

Knowledge of specialty calculations applicable to design discipline.

Familiarity with and ability to apply sustainable design principles within projects.

Additional professional certifications, registrations, and credentials relevant to Sparling's practice areas and/or markets.
