Integration & Test Engineer

OVERVIEW:

This position serves as and integration and test engineer for satellite integrated hardware assemblies in Redmond, WA as well as the launch site. Job is based in Redmond, WA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Responsible for rapid delivery of integration and test concept of operations for new design implementation on the satellite vehicle
* Participate in design reviews and provide feedback to improve design for manufacturability and quality control
* Update, streamline and optimize integration process (including overall concept of operations) through cross-functional coordination between engineering, production teams, technicians and test disciplines to drive down cost, schedule and achieve production rate goals
* Create accurate and effective process documentation, including standard operating procedures, integration work instructions, and process specifications
* Develop and execute system level test (avionics and propulsion) procedures to ensure all systems operate correctly individually and together as installed on the vehicle
* Quickly develop and execute solutions to resolve and prevent quality non-conformances discovered during hardware integration and/or test that may impact form, fit, or function of the production hardware minimizing impacts to production schedule
* Responsible for the identification, plan, and execution of capital upgrades including factory layout, test and manufacturing equipment to meet production rate goals of delivering complete and tested major assemblies
* Help drive company's environment, health, ergonomics and safety initiatives to prevent incidents
* Provides direct support to Flight Systems Management for pre-ship reviews to ensure that the integrated hardware assembly satisfies system level requirements before shipment to the test or launch site

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelors of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical. Aerospace, or other)
* Two years of applicable experience
* Minimum two years' experience as a manufacturing or test engineer supporting highly integrated cross-disciplinary assembly operations
* 1+ years of experience in a hands-on manufacturing environment, internship time counts.
* Previous work experience with a data acquisition system and instrumentation of some type (school lab setting or professional experience)

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

* Experience as a technical project lead
* Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
* Ability to communicate across all levels and disciplines
* Experience with acceptance testing, integrated avionics system level testing and/or system level propulsion leak checks
* Root Cause Analysis experience
* Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Kanban and/or Process Improvement experience
* Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
* Understanding of pressure transducers, thermocouples, RTDs, accelerometers, strain gauges, flow meters, load cells, relays, solenoid valves
* Experience with National Instruments SCXI/PXI data acquisition systems
* Experience with a defect or non-conformance tracking database
* Experience with a version control system
* Experience building or working with embedded systems
* Working knowledge of Labview is a plus
* Familiarity with scripting language, such as Python, Perl, Ruby, or Go is a plus

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

* Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed
* This is a hands-on position that requires one to be on their feet for up to 4+ hours a day. You will sometimes be working directly with technicians and hardware on the floor and will have to be comfortable stooping, bending, standing and at times will be in tight areas with limited room.
* May be required to provide technical support for integrated hardware assembly operations with engineering personnel at Texas Test site, Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg launch sites.
