Job Description

The QA Technician is responsible for ensuring that all document control, product compliance, corrective actions, calibration, and management reporting activities adhere to the requirements of the Southwire Quality Management System, ISO, and customer specifications.

This position is the subject matter expert for calibration, measurement device training, non-conformance evaluation, material certificates of conformance, and first article, first piece, and source inspections. Will support the Quality Manager with QA projects such as performing internal and supplier audits and new production inspection and testing.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures all inspection and quality plan requirements are followed and quality levels meet or exceed customer requirements. Recommends inspection and quality plan modifications when applicable.
  • Ensures all manufactured products conform to specifications.
  • Assists manufacturing in investigating and resolving product non-conformances.
  • Assists in investigating and resolving customer complaints and corrective actions.
  • Ensures all measurement devices are appropriate and readily available.
  • Ensures all measurement device records are accurate and complete.
  • Coordinates all internal and external calibration of measurement devices.
  • Aids in new product release activities, including PPAP's and First Article Inspections.
  • Serves as a QA representative in developing Production and Quality policies.
  • Assists with the creation and maintenance of Work instructions.
  • Assists with internal audits.

MINIMUM EDUCATION/TRAINING/SKILLS:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in QA (inspection, auditing, blue print reading, measuring instruments, and calibration).
  • Prior experience completing customer and material certifications (Certificate of Conformance) and various quality documentation forms.
  • CMM experience desired.
  • General machining knowledge.
  • Understands ISO requirements and familiar with ISO audits.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and customer specifications.
  • Experience interacting with customers through on-site inspections and audits
  • Proficient with Word and Excel
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Well-developed teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work under pressure.

PHYSICAL DEMAND:

Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Frequently required to sit, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Majority of work includes walking and standing on Plant floor.
