Job Description

Responsibilities

Southwest Airlines' Instructional Design Internships span across two different Teams within Southwest Airlines. If selected, you will work full-time as a Team Member within one of the following areas:

Learning Design & Development - (Southwest Airlines University Department)

The Learning Design & Development Team oversees creation, inspection and testing of training products to ensure quality, effectiveness and solid design. The Intern will support research and development, and internal projects in the instructional design space (research & job task analysis, storyboarding, basic project management, and other project support).

Instructional Design - (Flight Operations Department)

The Instructional Design Intern designs, develops and modifies curriculum, documentation and other training materials to support Instructor led and/or online training for the Flight Operations Department. The Intern will be responsible for creating training materials and providing recommendation for training solutions.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists in the design, development, and implementation of classroom and online training materials

Assists with the creation of job aids, simulations, and other informal learning resources

Evaluates effectiveness of training programs and makes recommendations for improvements

Evaluates training content and ensures alignment with objectives

Solicits input feedback from internal stakeholders, Subject Matter Experts, training Team members, and training participants on creating effective curriculum

Works with Subject Matter Experts to obtain information required to develop objectives, design documents/storyboards, and new training

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent education required.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.

EDUCATION:

Progress towards degree, major/minor in Instructional Design, Instructional Systems and Learning Technology, Educational Psychology, Organizational Development, or related field.

To be eligible must be currently enrolled as a full time student (minimum 12 credit hours).

Maintained 2.75 or above cumulative GPA.

EXPERIENCE:

Knowledge of Adult Learning, e-learning, and Instructional design theory preferred.

Ability to work independently and the willingness to function as a part of a Team.

Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and complete assignments with tight deadlines.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

SKILLS/ABILITIES/KNOWLEDGE/WORK STYLE:

Multimedia development experience in rich media tools preferred (ex: Adobe Creative Suite, PowerPoint, iSpring, Story Line, Final Cut Pro).

Experience in creating and editing written communication, presentations, curriculum guides, exams, publications, manuals preferred.

Graphical creativity a plus (PowerPoint slide design, Photoshop experience)
