About Southgate Animal Hospital

Located in Sarasota, Florida, Southgate Animal Hospital is a full service small animal hospital and boarding facilitythat has been providing care to pets in Sarasota County for the past 45 years. Our team of veterinarians, together with our well trained and caring staff, is dedicated to excellence in medicine, preventative care, surgery and dentistry for dogs and cats. We are known for always providing our patients with compassionate and high quality veterinary care and our clients with exceptional customer service. At Southgate Animal Hospital we understand that your pets are members of your family, and we look forward to them being part of our family as well. Our Facility: Our hospital, remodeled in 2001 , is a 4200 square foot modern facility that was designed with patient care and customer service in mind. It features a large reception area, 4 exam rooms, an in-house laboratory, pharmacy, a double surgical suite, a treatment area, a digital radiology suite, and separate wards for feline, canine and intensive care . Our Practice Philosophy: We feel that excellence in our field requires more than simply providing competant veterinary care. We strive to always practice in a manner that is compassionate, with understanding and respect regarding the needs of our clients as well as our patients. We also feel that it is important to take the time to educate our clients; we believe that our patients are best served when their owners are given the opportunity to be informed participants in decisions regarding the healthcare of their pets. Our History: The animal hospital was started back in the early 1960's. Dr Reiling purchased the hospital and practiced there until 2001, when he retired. In 1999 Dr. Adam T. Cohen purchased the hospital and the entire facility was rebuilt from the foundation up. Another remodel is scheduled for the spring 2010.
