Job Description

The Software Engineer at Southern Enterprises, LLC (SEI) is one who believes in continuous improvement, that service should exceed expectations, that excellence, integrity and innovation should drive one's work, and in making a positive difference to our customers, team and community.

The role of Software Engineer is to manage, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software applications that support all operational activities for the SEIs Distribution Center and administrative Departments. This includes applications for ERP (NAV), warehouse management (Solochain), procurement (NAV), EDI (Lanham), and other management systems. The ideal candidate must have some distribution and drop-shipping environment experience with major retailers or distributors. Must be proficient in MS SQL, C#, .NET framework along with relational database design/concepts. Must have the ability to prioritize assignments and be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously while following standardized practices of SDLC life cycle.

Essential Functions

  • Manage standard NAV package applications, WMS, EDI and the related Back End environment.
  • Develop and maintain stored procedures, SQL or other centralized reporting systems and various SQL scripts in support of organizational objectives, both strategic and operational.
  • Must be proficient in C#, XML and .NET framework along with SQL Scripting to support EDI transactions and web applications.
  • Must have proficiency in debugging code.
  • Develop, manage and maintain custom web applications.
  • Participate in new and advanced technological projects and practices.
  • Solid organizational skills and focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Providing accurate and timely estimates for tasks.
  • Provide support and leadership in critical production support issue resolution.
  • Conduct or facilitate root cause analysis on all in-scope incidents and recommend a corrective action plan.
  • Conduct code review to ensure the work delivered by the team is of high quality standards.
  • Work with business to prioritize production issue resolution.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Computer Science Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 2+ years of full Software Development Life Cycle experience required
  • 2+ years of distribution and drop shipping experience preferred
  • 2+ years of EDI and custom applications experience preferred
  • 2+ years of SQL scripts, database management, Power BI or other reporting tools, C#, .NET required
  • Experience with Dynamics ERP, WMS systems required (NAV preferred)
  • Developing and maintaining application software that utilizes Object Oriented Programming and n-tier development techniques.
  • Ability to learn custom application and migrate to more standardized solutions
  • Strong analytical, problem solving skills, must be able to work well with teams and members of senior management
  • Experience with Source Control systems (like TFS and GIT); Testing tools is a plus
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
