Job Description

Description

The foodservice intern will assist the department with a variety of operational duties and learn how the department functions. The intern will work on the Event Business Management System Database, answer incoming calls and assist with organizational duties in regards to the Workforce, Education and Training program. An emphasis will be placed on marketing energy efficiency programs for the foodservice industry while gathering relevant industry information in such resources as industry periodicals, trade journals, magazines, websites and customer contact. In addition, the intern will learn the features and benefits of natural gas-fired cooking equipment by conducting demonstrations and ultimately, encourage the savings foodservice customers can realize through promotion, education, and adoption of energy-efficient foodservice equipment and best practices.

Responsibilities/Duties

* Energy efficiency information gatherer
* Conduct marketing surveys for energy savings
* Culinary arts and recipe research
* Research information for foodservice market segmentation
* Assist with outreach to various food service associations and tradeshows
* Learn to utilize Event Management Business System

Qualifications:

* Junior or Senior in the following disciplines; Food Science and Technology, Nutrition, Hotel/Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Food Service programs. Must maintain a 3.0 GPA while in the internship program.
* Must be self-motivated and a self-starter
* Must be able to prioritize and handle multiple projects
* Must have strong analytical and writing skills
* Strong interpersonal skills
* Strong computer skills
* Strong people skills and passion for the food service industry
* Must be able to work with minimal supervision
* 16 to 30 hours per week, flexible between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday
* Appropriate work attire for foodservice kitchen is required
